The shocking Karl-Anthony Towns trade shook the Minnesota Timberwolves' fanbase to their foundation, and rightfully so. KAT was the longest-tenured member of this team, and his presence had been a certainty for the past nine seasons. To suddenly have him gone will be an utter and total culture shock for the Timberwolves.

But in return for dealing Towns, Minnesota will get back Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo from the New York Knicks, along with a first-round pick. The trade is still yet to be officially completed per league rules, but the expectation is that it will be finalized in the coming days.

In the meantime, some new details of the trade have emerged that tell us Randle and DiVincenzo are actually not the only players the Timberwolves will be receiving in the trade. According to The Athletic's Jon Krawczynski, Minnesota will also get Keita Bates-Diop in the deal.

Keita Bates-Diop will re-join the Timberwolves

What was initially a two-team trade was expanded, and the Charlotte Hornets were looped in as well. They will now receive DaQuan Jeffries and draft compensation, the details of which are yet to be revealed. Additionally, Keita Bates-Diop will head to the Timberwolves.

Of course, Bates-Diop began his NBA career in Minnesota, being drafted by the organization with the 48th-overall pick in 2018. He would play with the Wolves for 67 games across his first two seasons in the league, eventually moving on to Denver. Since playing with the Nuggets, he has appeared in games for the Spurs, Suns and Nets as well.

While not exactly a fan favorite during the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons, many did become fond of Keita for his usefulness off the bench. The 6-foot-8 wing will now re-join the Timberwolves locker room, at least for now. It is still possible Bates-Diop will still be moved elsewhere in the near future.
