Timberwolves' Anthony Edwards makes crazy statement regarding his future
By Justin Lee
There is no doubt that the Minnesota Timberwolves have one of the most polarizing players in the entire league. Anthony Edwards is that. He always seems to have something funny to say and is a guy that is just hard to dislike.
Edwards is a guy that will soon have a large fan base, with fans even outside of the Timberwolves market. That is what it's all about. Ant has made a name for himself and is only getting bigger. We have already heard him compared to Michael Jordan in some ways, who is one of the most influential athletes of all time and has even been called a top 10 player in today's league.
Now, though, he thinks he can do something no other player, or even professional sports athlete for that matter, has ever done.
Anthony Edwards is known for saying some pretty funny but outrageous stuff. Whether he is joking or being serious, I think he was being serious this time. Edwards claimed that he wants to be in the NBA and the NFL, which kind of makes his future in the NBA a bit foggy, to say the least.
"I might be the first one," Edwards said on Funny Marco's YouTube Show when asked about playing the two sports. "First, I have to handle his business in the NBA. As a team, [the] Minnesota [Timberwolves] organization, we want to win a championship. After that, we'll figure that out."
You love to hear Edwards talk about winning a championship first because that is priority No. 1. However, after that happens, if it ever does, what does that mean for him and the Timberwolves and his career in the NBA?
The NFL and NBA seasons intertwine during the year. They are both happening from October to February. Obviously, you have your Bo Jackson and Deion Sanders of the world, but those guys both played sports that didn't intertwine as much.
So, if he were to do the NFL, it seems like he would almost have to give up basketball. This could just be Edwards talking like he loves to do, but it is something to watch for.
