There was a three-team race for the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference for the majority of the regular season between the Denver Nuggets, Oklahoma City Thunder and Minnesota Timberwolves.

Minnesota, after losing star center Karl-Anthony Towns for over a month, lost that race by one game and fell to the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference playoffs. Despite being in range of having home court advantage throughout the playoffs, Minnesota is not getting a lot of love in the NBA futures market.

Timberwolves NBA Championship Odds

According to FanDuel Sportsbook, the Timberwolves are tied with the Phoenix Suns as the ninth favorite to win the title at +1900 ($100 bet wins $1,900), which carries an implied probability of just 5% that Minnesota will hoist the Larry O’Brien Trophy for the first time in franchise history.

Minnesota has never made the NBA Finals and oddsmakers are not counting on a history-making playoff run by the Timberwolves. Per FanDuel, Minnesota is the sixth-favorite to win the Western Conference at +1000, an implied probability of just 9.09%.

Minnesota a slight underdog in 1st Round of NBA Playoffs

Speaking of disrespect, Minnesota is a slight underdog at even money (+100) in its first-round playoff series against the No. 6 Suns.

It could be for good reason, though, as the Suns went 3-0 against the Timberwolves during the regular season, a series that wrapped up with a 125-106 Phoenix victory in the desert on Sunday.

Though they’re underdogs for the series, Minnesota is currently a two-point home favorite over Phoenix in Game 1 of the series on Saturday, per FanDuel. The Timberwolves went 14-21-2 ATS as a home favorite during the regular season and Phoenix went 9-6 ATS as a road underdog.
