Timberwolves vs. Jazz NBA expert prediction and odds for Monday, March 18 (Can Wolves win again?)

Betting odds, pick and prediction for the Minnesota Timberwolves' matchup with the Utah Jazz on Monday, March 18.

The Minnesota Timberwolves and Utah Jazz square off for the second time in as many games on Monday night after the Wolves pulled off a 19-point win on Saturday night.

Utah has been banged up as of late, most importantly down star Lauri Markkanen (questionable tonight), and it’s made it tough for the team to compete with a playoff-caliber team like the Wolves. The Jazz are just 3-7 in their last 10 games.

Minnesota has played well – even without All-Star Karl-Anthony Towns – winning two games in a row to stay within striking distance of the No. 1 seed in the West.

With the Jazz set as home dogs for the second straight games, how should we bet on this matchup?

Timberwolves vs. Jazz key players to watch

Minnesota Timberwolves

Naz Reid: With both KAT and Rudy Gobert out on Saturday, Reid turned in a massive performance against Utah, scoring 22 points and grabbing 12 rebounds in the win. Oh, and he dished out five dimes. Reid has scored 22 or more points in three of his last four games, including a 34-point showing against Cleveland.

Utah Jazz

Keyonte George: Rookie guard Keyonte George is really starting to run with the point guard job for the Jazz. He’s scored 18 or more points in six of his last seven games, and he’s averaging 24.5 points and 4.8 assists per game over his last four contests. He had 18 points on 5-of-16 shooting in Saturday’s loss.

Timberwolves vs. Jazz prediction and pick

Even though they lost by 19 in this same spot on Saturday night, the Jazz are seeing the line for this game move in their favor.

That’s likely due to Markkanen being listed as questionable, and if the one-time All-Star suits up tonight, it could allow the Jazz to hang around.

Minnesota has been solid as a road favorite this season, going 12-10 against the spread and winning those games by an average margin of 9.6 points per game.

The team easily handled Utah without Towns and Gobert on Saturday night, moving the Jazz to 13-8 against the spread as home dogs.

Markkanen’s status is huge in this game, but I’m not sure he guarantees Utah a cover – especially if Gobert ends up playing for the Wolves.

The Jazz have lost five of their last 10 games (seven total losses) by eight or more points. I lean with the Wolves to cover in this spot.
