Projected starting lineup, injury report, how to watch Timberwolves vs Mavericks
By Will Eudy
The Minnesota Timberwolves will return to the floor on Tuesday evening when they square off with the Dallas Mavericks at Target Center. Facing off with the team that ended their historic playoff run to the Western Conference Finals not six months ago, Minnesota will look to continue their improved play against a leveled-up Dallas team.
After dropping their opening night contest to the Los Angeles Lakers, the Wolves have largely found their rhythm. Anthony Edwards has been productive as usual, and Julius Randle has really settled into his role nicely, taking efficient shots and improving Minnesota's offensive approach.
Now, Minnesota will focus on improving their interior defense and returning to their status of one of the top defensive teams in the association. They will have a tough assignment in taking on the Mavericks, who leveled up by signing Klay Thompson in the offseason.
Dallas succeeded in stifling Minnesota back in May due to their lengthy defenders, who were able to slow down the Wolves' steady offensive approach. In adding Thompson, they also lost one of their best defenders in Derrick Jones Jr. The Mavericks are still figuring some things out, and it is a perfect time for the Timberwolves to enact some revenge for their playoff loss.
