Following the conclusion of the Minnesota Timberwolves' preseason slate, the front office has been busy figuring out their last moves to finalize the roster. After the team finished 2-3 in preseason, it gave the coaching staff more insight into what this roster is in need of, and what they already have a plethora of.

The Timberwolves became aware this preseason of just how much young talent they have on their hands. And while the loss of Karl-Anthony Towns is still not easy to cope with, Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo have looked promising.

With the Wolves' roster officially sitting at 19 players as of this writing, many have speculated who may be the one player who ends up getting cut. Minnesota's roster must be finalized for the regular season by 4:00 PM CT on Monday, October 21, and one player will have to go.

According to some insider information from The Athletic's Jon Krawczynski, we may already know who that player will end up being. Krawczynski indicated that Keita Bates-Diop was not present at the Timberwolves' practice on Saturday, October 19, and he said that "it appears" he will be the odd man out when it comes to the last roster cut before the start of the regular season.

Keita Bates-Diop is likely to be cut

This would make the most sense of any outcome. The remaining players on Minnesota's roster are the 15 full-time rostered guys, the three players currently on two-way deals, and then Keita Bates-Diop. For those unaware, the three that are currently occupying two-way deals are Jesse Edwards, Jaylen Clark and Daishen Nix.

Bates-Diop has been playing on a training camp deal, and it is highly unlikely he has done anything to earn taking one of the aforementioned three players' spots as a two-way player. All signs are indicating that an official announcement will drop in the next day signaling the end of his second stint with the team.

That will leave the Timberwolves' roster set at 18 players for the start of the regular season, with all 15 standard slots filled, along with the allotted three two-way roster spots. Minnesota will have all of its difficult decisions out of their way and be ready to move forward to a regular season filled with as much uncertainty as excitement.
