This surprisingly long Timberwolves streak finally ended against Rockets

Minnesota did something they haven't done in over a month.

It has been no secret that the Minnesota Timberwolves have struggled to put points on the board in recent weeks. Yes, they have had their moments of success overall, and they have now won eight of their last 12 games. But the problem of being less than proficient offensively has persisted even thoughout most of those wins.

As of late, the Wolves have been winning in spite of their offensive output, not as a result of it. The most telling number that proves this is true is a jarring trend that was finally erased in Minnesota's win over the Houston Rockets on Friday night. The Timberwolves' 113-112 win marked the first time they have scored at least 110 points in a game since November 26.

That November 26 game, which ironically was also against the Rockets, came in a loss in overtime. If you want to find the last time Minnesota scored at least 110 in regulation, you would have to go back to nine days before that when they beat the Phoenix Suns at home, on Julius Randle's buzzer-beater.

Minnesota scored 110 points for the first time since November 26

All things considered, this is a pretty crazy stat from an objective standpoint. Scoring 110 points in the modern NBA is an extremely common occurrence, and finding a way to go over a month without doing it is rather jaw-dropping.

Sure, Minnesota's offense has had its struggles, but you would have thought they would have just had a hot shooting night or something in that span of time to erase their drought. But regardless of how shocking this streak was, it is now over. And the good news is, the Timberwolves seem to be figuring a few things out in terms of how they can be better offensively on a consistent basis.

The 110-point drought was an obvious indicator that this team needed a lot of work to become the optimal version of themselves offensively. As progress continues to be made, it feels unlikely we will witness another streak like this one again.
