Telling statistic shows Timberwolves have been shooting the lights out

Minnesota has been dominant from beyond the three-point arc recently.

When the season began, the Minnesota Timberwolves were experiencing some serious troubles on offense. They even went a ridiculous 12 games in a row between November and December where they could not put up 110 points on the scoreboard. In the modern NBA, that is certainly a rare feat.

But as of lately, the Wolves have begun to correct their offensive issues in a major way. Improved output from different lineups have contributed toward Minnesota looking like a more than competent team at that end of the floor, and they are beginning to somewhat resemble last year's squad in that regard.

Timberwolves radio announcer Alan Horton recently shared a very telling statistic that highlights where Minnesota's offense is really booming right now. As of Monday, the Timberwolves hold the best three-point shooting percentage in the NBA since Christmas at 40.8%.

Minnesota leads the NBA in three-point percentage since Christmas

This is especially notable given that they were ranked 14th in the association up until Christmas, holding just a 37.0% from beyond the arc at that time. So over the course of the last month-plus, the Wolves have really been shooting the cover off the ball.

That stat is accentuated with another interesting number - after Monday's game against the Atlanta Hawks, Naz Reid is shooting 51.7% from three since Christmas. He has made 45 of his 89 three-point attempts during that span, leading all Timberwolves players in percentage.

Minnesota's improvement in this department has clearly been drastic, and it has been a big part of why their offense has looked so much more healthy over the last five weeks or so. The Wolves are generating better looks offensively, and knocking them down as well. If they can continue being a lethal-shooting squad from three, the outlook could begin to change for this team.
