Timberwolves' 2024 NBA Cup court is officially unveiled

This season, all 30 teams will participate in the second annual NBA Cup. The competition, previously known as the In-Season Tournament, will consist of group play followed by a knockout stage. At the end of it all, one team will be crowned the champion and players from the winning squad will each receive a $500,000 prize. The Minnesota Timberwolves will be looking to advance to the knockout stage after failing to do so a year ago.
One of the core elements of the NBA Cup last year and again this season is the uniquely colored tournament courts. Each team gets their own specially designed courts to be used only in NBA Cup games, and the design is updated each season.
Last year, the styles were chosen for each team based on their city edition uniforms. Minnesota's city edition jersey was "lake" themed in 2023-24 (and it is again this year), so the design of the court was that of a cool-tone light blue. But this season, the city edition jerseys have no bearing on the NBA Cup courts.
Instead, this year the Timberwolves will utilize a bright green court for their NBA Cup games. This court will make appearances for two home games at Target Center: when Minnesota plays the Houston Rockets on Tuesday, November 26, and when they host the LA Clippers on Friday, November 29.
Green is the theme for this year's NBA Cup court in Minnesota
Certainly plenty of fans are glad to see a change from last year's somewhat dull design. Gone is the line that stretched down the center of the court from 2023's In-Season Tournament court, and replacing it are several stylish new features.
A charcoal gray Timberwolves logo stands at center court, with a faint watermarked "Timberwolves" wordmark over top of it. The entire playing surface is covered in varying shades of bright "aurora" green, and along the bottom of the court are the outlines of trees, much like those used on Minnesota's throwback uniforms.
This court design seems to more closely capture the aura of the Timberwolves as a franchise than last year's design. Wolves fans who are able to attend for the Rockets or Clippers games in late November will get to witness this beauty firsthand.
