The Minnesota Timberwolves were dreadful in their Game 1 loss to the Golden State Warriors, and it all started with Anthony Edwards. The three-time All-Star had just one point in the first half and his playmaking woes returned. Minnesota scored just 11 points in the second quarter and never recovered, despite Stephen Curry going out with a hamstring injury. The poor performance had Edwards drawing tons of heat on social media.

Ant-Man did come alive a bit in the second half, but it was not enough. He finished with 23 points, 14 rebounds, two assists, three steals, one block, and three turnovers in 41 minutes of action. He shot just nine of 22 from the field and made one of his five 3-point attempts. Minnesota shot just 17.2 percent from three as a team and part of that was Edwards not making plays.

Fans were not happy. The Timberwolves gave away Game 1 in what should be a tight series, so fans had plenty to say on social media.

Anthony Edwards gets roasted on social media after Game 1 loss

The Michael Jordan comparison on Tuesday night was not the one Edwards wanted.

There was also a parody of his first-half performance to Wilt’s iconic photo from his 100-point game.

Those were far from the only posts about Ant-Man’s struggles. He got the scoring on track in the second half, but his playmaking is a larger worry.

Edwards wanted the matchup against Golden State, but Steve Kerr coached him with Team USA. He knows Ant-Man's game well, including the well-documented playmaking issues. Those showed up in Game 1. The Warriors were sending late help and making things difficult for the Wolves star. He had more turnovers than assists and never got his teammates involved.

Losing Game 1 is not the end of the world, but Minnesota fumbled homecourt in the series. It may not matter if Stephen Curry’s injury costs him multiple games. The Warriors star was ruled out with a hamstring, and the chatter from doctors on social media was not what Dubs fans wanted to hear. No matter what, Minnesota can’t win with Edwards struggling.

The Timberwolves won’t shoot this poorly again, but they must solve Golden State’s defense. Anthony Edwards needs 30 points and seven dimes in Game 2 for Minnesota to win.

Superstars rise to the occasion after a poor performance. Can he do it on Thursday night? Fans should bank on it, even after they let him have it on social media. Ant-Man is built for this, and the Wolves will be back in the conference finals.
