Just three minutes into the Minnesota Timberwolves' home opener, Anthony Edwards exited the game with a hamstring injury. Of course, this is a concerning sight. After the game, head coach Chris Finch didn't provide an update on Edwards.
No update from Finch on Anthony Edwards

Finch not downplaying Edwards' injury is certainly a concerning sign, especially since hamstring injuries typically aren't a day-to-day injury. While more clarity will be provided within the coming days, for now, Wolves fans are left in the dark.
Naz Reid did say that he thinks Ant will be fine and expects him to play tomorrow. Still, this isn't an official update (and when this article was originally published, Naz's quote wasn't out yet). While Reid's quote offers some level of optimism, it's also fair to be concerned that Finch didn't downplay the injury.
Naz Reid on Ant: "I think he’ll be all right. I think he’ll play tomorrow. We’ve seen him do that plenty of times before."

No update is a concerning sign
I'm far from a doctor and could be wrong, but if Edwards left Sunday's game, I can't see him playing in Monday's game against the Denver Nuggets. Unfortunately, hamstring injuries tend to be a week-to-week issue rather than a day-to-day one, so I'm bracing for Edwards to miss some time.
Hamstring injuries are notoriously tricky, and there's a strong risk of re-injury. Hence, I expect the Wolves to err on the side of caution with Edwards. At the same time, nothing is known at this stage, and it's purely speculation. Likewise, the severity of hamstring injuries is wide-ranging.
The main hope, of course, is that this isn't anything close to a serious injury and that Edwards returns to the court as soon as possible. However, it's hard to argue that Finch not providing an update is a positive sign.
The impact of a possible Anthony Edwards injury
The Wolves ended up pulling off a 114-110 win despite Edwards leaving the game. Doing this against an injury-riddled Indiana Pacers squad is one thing. However, navigating a possible Edwards injury will present challenges for Minnesota, especially if it's for an extended period of time.
If Edwards is sidelined regardless of the duration, I expect them to continue to empower Julius Randle as an offensive hub. Notably, Randle had a team-high 31 points and six assists during Sunday's win.
He looked extremely comfortable attacking the paint, especially when guarded by smaller players. Randle also did a fantastic job of setting up his teammates from both the perimeter and the interior. This game highlighted the best aspects of Randle's skill set.
The Wolves were already counting on Randle to be one of the team's primary initiators and might have to further lean on him. It's also worth noting that Mike Conley (25) and Bones Hyland (19) both saw season highs in minutes following Edwards' injury.
Ultimately, though, this is a very fluid situation and something all fans will be closely monitoring. When appropriate, we will provide further updates on Edwards' injury and wish the 24-year-old superstar a speedy recovery.
