If you have been keeping up with NBA news at all recently, you are aware of just how out of control things have gotten between Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat. After some back-and-forth with team President Pat Riley, Butler was issued two separate suspensions by the Heat. Minnesota Timberwolves fans may be the least surprised of anyone about this whole situation.
The latest update in this ongoing saga came on Monday, as news broke that Butler would be suspended indefinitely going forward. This marks his third suspension of the month. This time around, Jimmy incurred a suspension after walking out of Miami's practice on Monday. He did so in response to hearing that he would be replaced in the team's starting lineup.
Taking everything into perspective, it seems that this newest event in the Butler saga likely indicates he has played his last game in a Heat uniform. Where he ends up next is anyone's guess, but Timberwolves fans are probably sitting around and watching all of this unfold while thinking, "I told you so."
Jimmy Butler's Miami Heat career is likely over
Butler is undoubtedly a great player and a ceiling-raiser for any squad, but there is also no doubt that he can be a total enigma at times. When Jimmy has a falling-out with an organization, it always has the potential to turn ugly fast. Fans in Minnesota are acutely aware of this.
For anyone that needs a reminder, Butler left the Timberwolves back in 2018 after an infamous practice incident, wherein he teamed up with the bench players to defeat the starters, boasting that the organization needed him after doing so. Jimmy's belief in himself can sometimes manifest itself in these extreme types of situations.
Now, all indicators seem to be that Butler will be playing for a different team the next time he steps foot on an NBA court. In the meantime, Wolves fans can sit back and at least take some comfort in the fact that they do not have to deal with Jimmy's drama anymore.
