As happens every NBA offseason, there are already numerous rumors throughout the league involving player movement and trades. A lot of the rumors prove to be just that, but sometimes, where there’s smoke, there’s fire.

On the FanDuel show Run It Back, Sam Amick was asked about where he believes some of the more notable names in the league that are rumored to potentially get traded will end up. When asked about Minnesota Timberwolves forward Julius Randle, Amick said,

"I don’t personally think the T'Wolves have a pathway…I hate to say it, I think they’re going to continue swinging and missing on big names, so I think Julius stays put."

That’s not something that most of Minnesota’s fan base wants to hear.

Will Randle get traded this offseason?

If the Timberwolves do trade Randle this offseason, his Minnesota tenure would end on a rather low note. He had a terrible series in the Western Conference semifinals against the San Antonio Spurs.

San Antonio disposed of the Wolves in six games. It was a series to forget for Randle as he averaged just 12.8 points on miserable shooting splits of .342/.190/.731. Remarkably, the three-time All-Star totaled twice as many turnovers (18) as assists (nine) in the six outings.

That was the last straw for most fans who don’t see the 31-year-old as being a reliable second option behind Anthony Edwards. As talented as Randle can be, he doesn’t always give full effort on the defensive end, and it can be frustrating to watch him so frequently play iso ball.

After this prediction, some Wolves fans even threatened not to watch Wolves games next season if Randle is on the team. This goes to show how unfavorably Randle is viewed among the fan base.

The question is: What is his trade value around the league, especially after that San Antonio series? Randle is signed for $33.3 million in 2026-27 and has a player option for $35.8 million in 2027-28. That seems like a fair price for a player with his (regular season) production.

With anti-tanking rules going into in effect next season, perhaps a team (like the Brooklyn Nets) will try to raise its floor and acquire Randle. What that team would give the Timberwolves back is uncertain.

Randle has always been one of the more productive power forwards in the league. Despite that, there are reasons that the New York Knicks fanbase, and now the Timberwolves, have grown tired of him at times.

Amick’s comments shouldn’t be taken as gospel, but these comments could indicate Randle's market is limited. Without a doubt, Randle's future is a reason that this offseason is crucial for the Wolves.
