Undrafted in 2024, Zyon Pullin had a brief cup of coffee in the NBA last season with the Memphis Grizzlies, where he appeared in three games for a total of three minutes.

After signing a training camp deal in the offseason with the Minnesota Timberwolves, he was waived shortly after and assigned to their G League affiliate, the Iowa Wolves. It has been an incredible start to the season for Pullin, one that has resulted in being named the G League Player of the Month for November.

Pullin is scoring with incredible efficiency

The Wolves are off to a 6-2 start this season. They are averaging an absurd 137.8 points per contest, more than 7 points higher than any other team. Three players on Iowa are averaging more than 20 points, led by Pullin.

The 24-year-old guard is posting averages in his 7 appearances of 27.7 points, 3 rebounds, and 5.7 assists. That scoring average is second in the G League, only behind Ron Harper Jr. of the Maine Celtics. What has been truly remarkable is the efficiency with which Pullin is scoring. Thus far, he is shooting 66.7 percent from the field, 54.5 percent from 3-point territory, and 90.3 percent from the foul line.

In his last three games, Pullin has averaged 34.3 points. Remarkably, in the Wolves’ most recent outing against the Motor City Cruise on November 29, he scored 32 while attempting just 10 field goals.

It is the second straight season in which a player from Iowa has received Player of the Month honors, both times happening in November. Last year, current Timberwolves player Leonard Miller was also named the top player of the month.

Not only Pullin is performing like a top G League player for Iowa

Pullin is definitely a worthy recipeint for G League's Player of the Month in November. Nobody would have batted an eye though if his teammate got that accolade.

Guard Tristen Newton is also off to an incredible start. Appearing in all eight games for the Wolves thus far on the season, he is averaging 27.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 8.8 assists, and 2.4 steals. The scoring, assists, and steals ranks tied for third, third, and tied for ninth, respectively, in the G League.

Selected in the second round of the 2024 NBA Draft, Newton was added off waivers by the Timberwolves back in February. He appeared in 3 games for the NBA squad last season and previously played 5 with the Pacers.
