It has been a long time coming, but the greatest player in Minnesota Timberwolves franchise history will finally be reconnecting with the organization in the near future. The St. Paul Pioneer Press' Charley Walters reported that Kevin Garnett is expected to assume a role with the team's front office as soon as Alex Rodriguez and Marc Lore are officially approved to become the new owners of the franchise.

Wolves fans have been waiting for this moment for quite some time. Garnett has always been a huge cultural figure in Minnesota, but his potential involvement with the team post-retirement in 2016 was hindered by his relationship with the previous ownership. Glen Taylor, who recently lost the arbitration hearings against Rodriguez and Lore, was not in good standings with KG, and that was the main reason Garnett chose to never attend a playoff game or show his face at Target Center over the last several years.

Kevin Garnett is set to take a front office role with the Timberwolves

But now, with new ownership set to step into action, it appears to only be a matter of time before KG becomes involved with the Timberwolves once again. In the new front office role he is set to assume, Garnett will obviously bring his own unique skillset to the table and be able to make a positive impact. But frankly, many fans will not even care what specifically he begins working on. Just having him present within the organization once again will serve to uplift the spirits of many who love this team.

One would have to think that with Garnett's experience as a former player and with his intricate knowledge of the Timberwolves, he will have a knack for knowing how to improve certain aspects of the franchise. Whether it be scouting for talent in the draft, making decisions on what steps the organization should take in roster-building, hiring additional personnel to improve the team from within or something else, it feels like KG will have the potential to be a big difference-maker in a short amount of time.

Perhaps the best news that could come from this announcement? With Garnett about to be working in the front office, it may not be long before we see his number 21 jersey hanging from the rafters. The day that scenario becomes reality will be a momentous occasion for Timberwolves fans.
