It was a rough performance for the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 2 of their series against the San Antonio Spurs. A 38-point loss can certainly take away the positive vibes that were built after their two-point win in Game 1. As disappointing as it was, they still took the first game in The Alamo. The goal for the lower seed in a playoff round is always to take at least one of the first two games on the road.

Now, the Timberwolves are heading back home to the Target Center for Games 3 and 4. They were awesome there in the opening round against the Denver Nuggets, and the hope is that can continue against the Spurs.

Target Center has been a great place for the Wolves in the playoffs

The Timberwolves took care of business when eliminating the Nuggets in six games, an outcome that very few expected. A large reason for Minnesota advancing in a series that not many expected them to win was their performances at the Target Center.

The Wolves came up victorious in each of the three contests that took place at the Target Center against the Nuggets. None of those outings were all that close either. Minnesota won them all by double figures by an average of 15 points.

The Timberwolves also performed better at home in last year’s postseason. They went 5-2 at home and 4-4 on the road. Four of their five wins at their home arena came by at least 11 points. Even in the Western Conference finals, a series they lost in five games to the Oklahoma City Thunder, Minnesota split their 2 games at home, with the win coming by 42 points (and the loss by just 2).

Anthony Edwards is certainly happy to be heading back to the place he has called home since 2020. After the Game 2 loss Ant-Man said,

"I’m ready to get back in front of the fans, in front of the home crowd. Seeing these fans, they talkin crazy to us. I hope our fans talk crazy to them, too."

We saw clever Spurs fans with Raid signs for Ant-Man. How will the Wolves’ fandom respond when it comes to Victor Wembanyama? Have faith, Wolves Nation, as your squad is heading back to a place they have played quite well. It certainly won't be easy for the Spurs against such a raucous crowd that showed out in the first round.
