There's been plenty of debate about if the Minnesota Timberwolves should engage on the whole Malik Beasley situation, and I'm here to say what we're all thinking. The Wolves need to do the obvious thing here and just go ahead and sign him.
Perhaps you don't agree with me, and you consider the risk to outweigh the potential benefits. That's fine. But in my view, there's so much tiptoeing around being done regarding Beasley and his public image right now that Minnesota would do best to simply bite the bullet and just bring him back on their roster.
Now, I'm not so blind to the point here that I've completely forgotten about the reason why teams are skeptical to sign Beasley right now. I get it. Teams are worried not only that he might get suspended, but no doubt some are also taking into account his trustworthiness and questioning if they want him as part of their organization.
Make your own judgement on that however you feel. But in the grand scheme of things, I think Beasley's talent and the upside of adding him to your roster still outweighs the controversy and the potential downsides.
Malik Beasley would be the perfect sneaky move for the Timberwolves
This is a guy who's a total dead-eye three-point shooter. He's shot 41% from deep in each of the last two seasons and carries a lot of scoring gravity whenever he steps foot on the hardwood. He proved he's the kind of guy who can be a real needle-mover after finishing second in Sixth Man of the Year voting in 2024-25.
Beasley generally needs the right kind of environment to flourish, and I think he'd be a wonderful fit in Minnesota. He's of course already familiar with the Timberwolves as an organization, and his experience playing alongside Anthony Edwards would allow him to get integrated very fast.
Plenty of Wolves fans still have fond memories of Malik from his prior stint with the team, and he'd be an excellent addition this time around as well. Some may think there would be too much positional overlap with Donte DiVincenzo, but you can never have too many capable shooters.
And let's not forget that DiVincenzo is currently dealing with a recurring toe injury. There's no guarantee he'll be healthy in time for the start of the 2025-26 season, so that's all the more reason for Minnesota to press the button and sign Beasley once again.
