Last season, the first-ever father/son combo graced an NBA court together. LeBron and Bronny James appeared in the 2024-25 regular season opener together with the Lakers. While they are the first, the elder statesmen of the league are often old enough to be the fathers of some of the youngsters just entering the NBA. That is certainly the case for the Timberwolves, who roster both two of the oldest and two of the youngest players on their team.
The Wolves have 2 of the top 8 oldest players
Recently, HoopsRumors wrote a recent article on the 10 oldest and 10 youngest players in the NBA. The Timberwolves had two players listed at both ends of the age spectrum. Notably, they are the only team with at least one player on each list.
Starting with the oldest, Joe Ingles is the seventh-oldest player currently on an NBA roster. The 11-year veteran is now 38 years old, with his birthday recently having passed on October 2. Ingles is preparing for his second season with Minnesota, having re-signed with the club this offseason.
Next on the list, as the eighth-oldest player, is point guard Mike Conley. He is just 9 days younger than Ingles, as he will turn 38 on October 11. Conley will be participating in his 19th NBA season and could reach the two-decade mark if he plays in 2026-27. He is a free agent after the season, though, so it may come with a team other than the Timberwolves.
The 6 NBA players who are older than both Ingles and Conley are LeBron James (Lakers), Chris Paul (Clippers), Kyle Lowry (76ers), Garrett Temple (Raptors), Al Horford (Warriors), and Jeff Green (Rockets).
The Wolves also have 2 of the 7 youngest players
The 10 youngest players in the NBA are all selections from the 2025 NBA Draft. That includes the 2 draft picks of the Wolves.
The third-youngest NBA player is center Joan Beringer. Selected with the 17th overall pick by Minnesota, Beringer will turn 19 on November 6, shortly after the regular season begins. The French big man will look to find his way into the frontcourt rotation before he even reaches the age of 20.
Rocco Zikarsky, another center, was taken in the second round (45th overall) in the 2025 NBA Draft. The 7-foot-2 youngster was born on July 11, 2006, meaning he has been 19 years old for a little less than three months. He is the seventh-youngest player in the league. Zikarsky is on a two-way contract with Minnesota.
The only two players who are younger than Beringer are Cooper Flagg (Mavericks) and Noa Essengue (Bulls). Also younger than Zikarsky are Jeremiah Fears (Pelicans), Khaman Maluach (Suns), and Ace Bailey (Jazz).
