The Minnesota Timberwolves host the Washington Wizards on Wednesday night at 7 pm CT. Minnesota is 9-5 while the Wizards are an abysmal 1-12 this season. Unsurprisingly, this isn't expected to be a close game, as the Timberwolves enter as 16.5-point favorites. Notably, the Wolves are 9-0 against below .500 teams, a trend they'll look to continue on Wednesday.
However, both teams have injuries that could impact the game to some level. Let's dive into the injury report for both sides.
11/19: Timberwolves full injury report vs. Wizards
- Donte DiVincenzo (face mask) - AVAILABLE
- Jaden McDaniels (wrist) - OUT
- Terrence Shannon Jr. (foot) - OUT
- Enrique Freeman (two-way) - OUT
- Rocco Zikarsky (two-way) - OUT
To nobody's surprise, Donte DiVincenzo, who suffered a broken nose over two weeks ago, remains active. He missed no time with this injury and has been cleared to stop wearing his mask. Second-year wing Terrence Shannon Jr. is set to miss his eighth straight game with a foot injury. Hopefully, Shannon returns to the court soon, as he will be re-evaluated this Friday.
The real story, though, is Jaden McDaniels appearing on the injury report with a wrist sprain. At first, McDaniels was questionable, but he has since been downgraded to out. McDaniels is in the midst of a career season, averaging a career high 17.5 points while leading the league in 3-point percentage. The 6-foot-9 forward played in all 82 games last season. This will mark McDaniels' first game missed since December 2023.
Minnesota will likely be able to survive against the Wizards without McDaniels; they have Anthony Edwards and Julius Randle after all. However, the hope is that this isn't anything close to a long-term injury for McDaniels, as he has been a crucial part of the Wolves' success on both ends of the court. Further updates on McDaniels' injury will certainly be something that Wolves fans will closely monitor.
11/19: Wizards full injury report vs. Timberwolves
- Alex Sarr (toe) Questionable
Alex Sarr is the lone player on the Wizards' injury report, but it's a significant development. The second-year big man has been the team's best player thus far, averaging 18.3 points, 8.2 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 2.2 blocks. The Wolves already had a key advantage heading into this game, but if Sarr is out, this would all but guarantee a win for Minnesota, especially given the Wizards' lack of frontcourt depth.
Sarr has yet to miss a game this season, so it's unclear who would earn a starting spot, but Marvin Bagley feels like the most likely candidate. If Sarr misses the game, the Wizards will lean on Kyshawn George and CJ McCollum more.
