On Sunday, January 11, at 6 p.m. CT, the Minnesota Timberwolves (25-14) play host to the San Antonio Spurs (27-11). A game between two of the best teams in the Western Conference is certainly exciting. However, both teams have key injuries that could impact the game.

Let's dive into a full injury report for both teams.

1/11 Timberwolves injury report vs. Spurs

  • Anthony Edwards (Foot) - AVAILABLE
  • Terrence Shannon Jr. (Foot) - OUT
  • Chris Finch (Illness) - OUT

Anthony Edwards has appeared on the Timberwolves' injury report with "right foot injury maintenance" over the past three games. However, Ant has played in each game, and he is once again good to go on Sunday.

Edwards missed three games in December with a foot ailment. This injury hasn't impacted Edwards' play as he is averaging 29.8 points since returning to the court in mid-December. The Spurs' stifling perimeter defense poses a difficult matchup for Edwards if he plays.

Head coach Chris Finch was ruled out with an illness just hours before tip-off. Micah Nori will take over as the head coach for this game. Nori is one of the more respected assistants across the league and certainly has a head coaching job in his future.

Earlier this season, Nori guided the Wolves to a win after Finch was ejected during a game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. He was also the de facto head coach when Finch got injured during the 2024 playoffs. It's unclear if this will change anything from a strategic standpoint, but Finch being out is certainly notable.

Second-year wing Terrence Shannon Jr. hasn't played since December 25 due to a foot injury of his own.

1/11 Spurs injury report vs. Timberwolves

  • Victor Wembanyama (Knee) - AVAILABLE
  • Devin Vassell (Adductor) - OUT

Third-year phenom Victor Wembanyama has been dominant when he has played this season, averaging 24.1 points while being the league's best defender. However, Wemby has missed 14 games with separate calf and knee injuries. Despite being the second night of a back-to-back and being listed as questionable earlier, Wemby is ready to play on Sunday.

Wembanyama has come off the bench in the three games he's played since returning from his knee injury, and it's fair to expect that trend to continue. The Timberwolves and Wolves played once earlier in this season, but Wemby was sidelined for that game. As such, it will be interesting to see how they react to his presence as a rim protector and try to defend him on the other end of the court.

Outside of Wemby, sharpshooting wing Devin Vassell remains out with an adductor injury. Vassell's last game came on December 29 against the Utah Jazz. While the Spurs are 4-2 without Vassell, his presence as a secondary creator and 3-point shooter has been missed.
