Fit with the Timberwolves:
If Vaughn does wind up being selected by the Timberwolves in the NBA Draft, he’ll enter what may be a bit of a logjam at the wing positions. Since Vaughn doesn’t really have any ability to play point guard due to his lack of court vision, he’ll likely be strictly a shooting guard. Guys like Kevin Martin, Shabazz Muhammad, Andrew Wiggins, and Zach LaVine will already be playing solid minutes at the shooting guard position.
Still, Vaughn’s strengths make him a decent fit for this team. His ability to be in the right spot defensively as well as his rebounding would help a couple of major weaknesses that this team has. Additionally, a scorer like Vaughn coming off the bench definitely wouldn’t hurt.
Overall, picking Vaughn wouldn’t be a bad idea for the Timberwolves. He’s got some potential as a solid NBA player and he would also be a fan favorite since he’s from Minnesota. Will there likely be better options at the time of the Wolves selection? Maybe. However, Vaughn would be a good pick and would bring a lot to the table for this Timberwolves team.
Other Timberwolves NBA Draft Profiles: Karl-Anthony Towns, Jahlil Okafor, D’Angelo Russell, Tyus Jones
