Fit with the Timberwolves:
Looking at the Timberwolves roster right now, it’s tough to find promising talent at the power forward position. While Anthony Bennett and Adreian Payne are both recent first round picks, both of them also remain huge question marks.
Porzingis could be a possible solution to this weakness at the power forward position. His tendency to play more of a stretch-four seems like it would help this team because it would spread things out and give Ricky Rubio and Andrew Wiggins room to operate.
Defensively, Porzingis’s shot blocking skills would give this team a big boost. However, his tendency to shy away from banging down low with other big men is a concern, especially for a team that struggled mightily in that department in the 2014-15 season.
Overall, it seems pretty unlikely at this point that the Timberwolves end up with Porzingis. Barring something miraculous happening, Porzingis won’t be in a Timberwolves uniform this season. However, his fit wouldn’t be terrible. Offensively, he would be able to space the floor well for others. The concern would be on defense, where he may struggle against bigger opponents. Still, though, his talent level is pretty high and he’ll have an immediate impact on whichever team does end up with him.
