Minnesota Timberwolves: 5 Best Games Of The Season
1. March 10th vs Golden State Warriors
This almost became the turning point in the Minnesota Timberwolves’ season. The Timberwolves were in the midst of their best defensive stretch of the season and had beaten the Los Angeles Clippers and the Utah Jazz in the previous few weeks.
Some might say that this was simply a case of the Timberwolves catching the Warriors at the right time. The Warriors were in the midst of a slump and Kevin Durant was out with an injury.
However, the Timberwolves still played their hearts out and came away with a victory against a very good Golden State team.
Minnesota took the lead midway through the first quarter and would never give it up again, leading the rest of the way. At one point in the second quarter, they led by as many as 15 points.
The Timberwolves’ lead would dwindle here and there but surprisingly they were always able to stay ahead and build the lead back up.
With the Timberwolves leading by a little more than ten points two minutes into the fourth quarter, you knew the Warriors were just biding their time to make a run and get back into the game.
A furious run they did make. The Warriors pulled within one point midway through the fourth quarter before the Wolves extended it back out again.
Then, in the last couple minutes, the Warriors were within one point again. However, they were never able to get over that hump and take the lead.
Steph Curry had a chance to take the lead towards the end of the game but missed a difficult shot and the Minnesota Timberwolves were able to hold on and upset the Warriors at the Target Center.
