Minnesota Timberwolves: Pros and cons of Jeff Teague
Pro: Pick and Roll
Jeff Teague loves to play in a pick and roll offense. We know it is a successful designed play to have when you see the Clippers every season with Chris Paul and DeAndre Jordan completely destroy defenses.
We saw it a lot in his Atlanta days with Al Horford. In fact, Teague was used so much in a pick-and-roll situation, that he saw 545 plays. That is on average over the course of an 82-game season about 6 or more per game.
KAT is one of the most athletic big men in the entire game. Teague and KAT should have the ability to torch defenses. Whether it turns into a highlight alley-oop play or a wide open shot for Teague and KAT. These two players should have a hay day with each other.
But it won’t be with just KAT.
Tom Thibodeau, in his press conference welcoming Teague and Taj Gibson – claimed he will do some pick-and-roll with both Jimmy Butler and Andrew Wiggins.
This will be a lot of fun, because both wing players are so athletic, that they will be able to pick apart opposing defenses. As both of these players will be able to create shots for one another and soar up for alley-oops.
It will be a fun offense to watch with Teague running the point. We will be seeing an offense of dunking and dropping shots left and right.
Expect a lot of this next season.
