The Ugly

In a league where the traditional center is almost nonexistent, every player needs a 3-point shot. Although Gorgui’s 3-point percentage isn’t awful, he still isn’t much of a threat from outside of the arc.

In his last three seasons, he has averaged and made more threes each year. This isn’t counting his rookie year in which he went one for one from deep.

In year two he shot one for six which clearly isn’t anything special.

His past two seasons, however, Dieng has raised some eyebrows. In his third year, he shot six for 20, good enough for 30 percent on the year. Then last season came.

He shot a decent 16 for 43 (.372 percent) from three in his fourth season. I don’t think many people expected him to put up that many threes let alone make 37 percent of them.

Although last season was eye-opening, this sample size is also small. It is hard to judge his three-point ability over just four seasons shooting a total of 24 for 70 (.343 percent).

However, if Dieng can show over the next two seasons or so he shoots a consistent 37-40 percent this will no longer be the ugliest part of his game. Until then, it is.
