Minnesota Timberwolves game preview: Oct. 8 vs. Golden State Warriors
Player to Watch: Andrew Wiggins
This is a tough choice.
With so many great options to see in the final game, Andrew Wiggins is the best bet. A big story during the first two games and the offseason, s when he will finally sign his max contract. It’s been told that he will sign it sometime soon. The contract extension deadline is Oct. 16.
We have seen the pairing of Jimmy Butler, and Wiggins in a small sample size. So far, it hasn’t been too much of an issue in terms of spacing. To be honest, it actually looks to be a good fit.
We have seen a much better defensive player so far, then what we have seen in the past. In the first game against the Lakers, he led the team in steals with three. This past game, he and a few others had one steal. These steals weren’t just handed to him either, they were actually ones that he read the offense and picked off a few passes.
To go along with those steals, he has done a lot better guarding his opponent. Instead of fouling players, he has just put his hands up and played great defense.
Offensively in the first game, he did struggle a bit. He shot 3-12 from the field, and only scored nine points. The only starter who didn’t score in double figures. In this last game, he was able to get in a rhythm. He was able to score 14 points and shot 5-for-11.
He has looked a lot more aggressive these past few games – getting in the mix of things, and grabbing rebounds. It has been nice to see this preseason, and hopefully, it continues to progress into Sunday.
