Different power rankings week, same power rankings result this week for Karl-Anthony Towns.

He continued to be consistent in his scoring and rebounding, traits we have all come to love with Karl-Anthony Towns. KAT posted double-doubles in three of the four games this week, falling just one rebound shy against Detoit.

His elite offensive game, and leadership in the  Timberwolves’ recent Western Conference success lead to Towns being named the player of the week for the West this week, no mean feat in a conference packed with stars who are performing at their top level every night out.

Towns’ 26-point, 16-rebound destruction of the San Antonio Spurs looked like some built up frustration was being let out, as Towns finally grabbed his first win over the Spurs since he entered the NBA.

Another thing that was impressive this week with Towns was his 3-point shooting, as he is beginning to become the serious outside threat that we know he can be.

The defensive struggles have still been there this week for Towns, who was dominated by Dwight Howard in the awful loss to Charlotte, but his consistently good offensive arsenal is keeping him in the top power ranking spot for another week, his fourth straight.

If Towns can keep playing this way – which isn’t even his best (!) – then he will be very hard to knock of this top perch all year.
