Timberwolves Power Rankings: Wolves soar into the new year
11. Aaron Brooks (Unranked)
Season stats: 6.3 MPG – 2.5 PPG – 0.7 APG – 0.2 SPG – 46.7% FG – 40% 3PT – 75% FT
Weekly stats: 13.0 MPG – 2.0 PPG – 0.7 APG – 0.7 APG – 28.6% FG – 100% FT
Aaron Brooks is back in the rankings this week, for better or worse.
With Jeff Teague going down against Denver with a grade one left knee strain, it was up to Aaron Brooks to prop up the bench unit while Tyus Jones stepped up into the starting line-up.
Brooks didn’t fare overly well in his return to valuable minutes, however, failing to find the rhythm of the game in any of his 3 outings.
Brooks hit both his shots in just over three minutes in his first outing in Milwaukee, but the fun stopped there for the 32-year-old. He went on to miss his final five shot attempts over the last two games of the power rankings week, adding two assists and two turnovers over his 35 minutes in the Pacers and Lakers blowouts.
Brooks will need to step his game up and provide some solid point guard relief for Tyus Jones while Jeff Teague sits out, or Timberwolves coach Tom Thibodeau may resort to the running Jimmy Butler and Jamal Crawford at the one-guard like he flashed against Los Angeles.
