5. Thomas Robinson – Power Forward

I’ve been a big fan of Thomas Robinson since his days with the Kansas Jayhawks. He was the fifth-overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft by the Sacramento Kings, and while Robinson hasn’t developed into the player that many had hoped for, he still brings upside.

He’s played for six teams in his five-year career, which makes it hard for a young player who is coming into the league, always having to adapt to a new style of play. Some of his development issues could have came from that experience.

Robinson has a great style of play; he’s physical and athletic, standing at 6′-10″ and 237 pounds. He primarily scores around the rim and doesn’t have the ability to shoot the ball from long range, which isn’t ideal considering Minnesota already struggles in that department.

He does have the chance to give Minnesota a spark plug off the bench, which they desperately need. Getting points from dunks and alley-oops could get the crowd into things and get the energy flowing.

He doesn’t have the ability to block a lot of shots or grab a high number of steals. Using his physicality, Robinson is able to play good defense down on the low block. I’ll take a player who plays good defense down low if it meant that he wasn’t going to block a lot of shots.
