The Minnesota Timberwolves’ Jimmy Butler drama continues, and while it feels like we’ve posted a ghastly number of articles about Butler, it’s important to realize who has the potential to trade for him.
I’ve just finished up trading Minnesota Timberwolves‘ All-Star Jimmy Butler to 14 Western Conference teams on our way to seeing what all 29 teams could trade for Butler.
Now I enter the Eastern Conference as potential suitors, If you’d like to see the first 14 trade ideas for Jimmy Butler to 14 teams, click here, here, and then here.
Even with this Jimmy Butler drama ensuing, he was with the media after practicing with the Wolves yesterday afternoon, and it looks like the Wolves will play him until they can trade him. Our own Ben Beecken wrote about Butler surprisingly beginning his season in a Wolves jersey, just click here.
We’ve had several reports on the conversation between Wolves owner Glen Taylor and Jimmy Butler, but it was best reported here:
"Via, Yahoo Sports “Three days before the start of the regular season, Taylor met with his disgruntled All-Star before practice, searching for some sort of understanding to calm the noise that has drowned out any sense of excitement for the upcoming season. In the meeting, Taylor and Butler came to an agreement, sources said: Taylor will continue to work diligently to find a trade as soon as possible. Until that happens, Butler will be a good teammate and play as hard as he always does. With trade talks whisper-quiet at this point, neither side has much of a choice. “They want me to go out here and hoop to the best of my abilities,” Butler said after practice on Sunday, his second workout with the team since he returned from an absence created by his trade request. “Make sure I’m healthy. Compete, ‘cause that’s what I love to do. Go up against the best, ‘cause that’s what I love to do. And do it for the guys that’s in the same jerseys as me.”"
While most fans are disappointed, the hesitation to trade Butler is mostly due to the fact that owner Glen Taylor believes that Butler will be more attractive to potential trade partners once they see he is fully healthy and teams realize he’s on the market and ready to go.
Fans are obviously not happy with this because it literally makes everyone uncomfortable, and honestly we’re tired of writing about what Jimmy Butler is doing to this Wolves roster.
While we’ve created 14 trade ideas to all the Western Conference teams, the trade that is most realistic will most likely be to an Eastern Conference squad. Specifically in this post we’ll be creating ideas for the Boston Celtics, Philadelphia 76ers, Toronto Raptors, Milwaukee Bucks, and Washington Wizards.
All five of these teams have nice role players and good starters at fantastic salaries that make a easily contrived trade idea. And while the Miami Heat have been the main team in talks for Butler, it’s quite possible there could be a surprise over the next week or so.
Our first trade idea is to the Boston Celtics, as if they need anymore talent.
All trade ideas made in this article have been through the ESPN trade machine and contractually work.
