Surefire Event III: The results

Our first surefire bet was a bullseye as we proclaimed that this game will not be a blowout. Any game that ends tied in regulation play in a tie is no blowout. Oh, but that’s not what the pregame analysis would have you believe. The Timberwolves were huge underdogs, but they didn’t see themselves as underdogs.

There have been many who are quick to point to the Minnesota Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch out of frustration and proclaim that he has not done enough for this team. But it comes down to the players, many of whom were unfamiliar with the Timberwolves’ way of play this season, and many others who were injured for long periods of time or at the worst possible moments this season.  The Timberwolves showed up against tough opponents.

From here on out, until the Timberwolves are sent home for good, they will only be facing tough opponents.

Surefire Event II: The results

Karl-Anthony Towns will remind everyone why he is so very valuable. Sure, the Timberwolves’ frontcourt was decimated, but KAT put up 24 points and hauled in 11 rebounds. Despite still being under load management for his right calf strain, he played 41 minutes and ended the game with a +18. He shot a Herculean eight of 12 from the floor and scored on all six free throws as well.

Surefire Event I: The results

Shorthanded Timberwolves will lean on Nathan Knight. Well, the Timberwolves wanted to lean on Knight, but in just two minutes of play, he did not score, hauled in one rebound, and sunk to a +/- of -7. The moment was bigger than he was.

Surprise II: The results

Look for Anthony Edwards to have a breakout game. I’m not sure who wore Anthony Edwards’ jersey in this one, but the real Ant-Man did not show up. Edwards took a hard play in the game, and many commented that Edwards was not the same offensively.

Don’t be fooled though. Edwards made his presence felt.

While his defense was up to par, he was only able to put up nine points, including shooting 0 for 9 from the perimeter. Still, he scored nine points, hauled in eight rebounds, handed out five assists, snatched one steal, and even denied the Lakers three times with blocks. That’s pretty good for a bad game. Even great players have stinkers. Let’s hope Anthony Edwards roars back.
