3. Golden State Warriors

As far as they have come, the Minnesota Timberwolves are still living in the shadow of the Western Conference giants for the time being. The Golden State Warriors have won four of the last nine NBA championships, and will undoubtedly be in the mix again next season thanks to Stephen Curry.

Anthony Edwards is well aware of the Warriors’ current position at the top of the totem pole. He mentioned last week that he would prefer to play Golden State in the playoffs next year over any other team.

He explained that his primary reason for wanting to play the Warriors was “because Draymond (Green) talks so much trash.” While this is an understandable explanation for nearly any NBA fan, Edwards may not have let on about all his feelings. It is also possible he wants to take on the Warriors so that he can help take down what is essentially the modern NBA’s biggest dynasty.

Wolves fans are well aware of Edwards’ alpha mentality and highly competitive nature. It would come as no surprise if he is hoping to square off with the four-time champions and show them that he is next in line. All things considered, the Warriors may be the most interesting choice for Minnesota’s opener.
