NBA In-Season tournament nears for suddenly struggling Wolves
By Bret Stuter
While the Minnesota Timberwolves season is just getting underway. the truth of the matter is that this season is most unlike any other NBA season before. This season includes four games that have been predetermined as In-Season Tournament contests. Before we discuss the NBA In-Season Tournament, let’s pull back a bit to discuss the Timberwolves’ first ten games of the 2023-24 NBA season.
The first ten games for the Minnesota Timberwolves this season are as follows:
- Oct 25 @ Toronto Raptors LOSS 94-97
- Oct 28 Miami Heat (44-38, 2-3 preseason, 1-0 2023-24 season)
- Oct 30 @ Atlanta Hawks (41-41, 3-2 preseason, 0-1 2023-24 season)
- Nov 1 Denver Nuggets (53-29, 3-2 preseason, 1-0 2023-24 season)
- Nov 4 Utah Jazz (37-45, 3-2 preseason, 1-0 2023-24 season)
- Nov 6 Boston Celtics (57-25, 4-1 preseason, 1-0 2023-24 season)
- Nov 8 New Orleans Pelicans (42-40, 1-3 preseason, 1-0 2023-24 season)
- Nov 10 @ San Antonio Spurs (In-Season Tournament) (22-60, 3-2 preseason, 1-0 2023-24 season)
- Nov 12 @ Golden State Warriors (44-38, 4-1 preseason, 0-1 2023-24 season)
- Nov 14 @ Golden State Warriors (In-Season Tournament) (see above)
And so, we know that the Timberwolves are going to face a tough beginning to the 2023 NBA season. But lest we find ourselves mesmerized by the excitement and dramatics that accompany the start of a new NBA season, let’s revisit the fact that this year includes an NBA In-Season Tournament.
In the end, it’s one more way to infuse postseason excitement into the middle of the season. So who do the Minnesota Timberwolves (0-1) face this season, and more importantly, when?
As we have shown in the table above, these Timberwolves have just six games to play before they must travel to San Antonio to face their first In-Season Tournament game against the Spurs. Four days later, the Timberwolves will compete in their second In-Season Tournament game, this time they will be on the road against the Golden State Warriors in their 10th game of the 2023-24 NBA season.
Timberwolves NBA In-Season Tournament schedule

- Nov. 24, 2023 Sacramento Kings 7:00 pm CT
