Anthony Edwards and Adidas recently released the 24-year-old superstar's new signature shoe, the AE2. The initial shoe Adidas released, titled "With Love," was a slick blend of orange, red, and black. The shoes have a certain pop to them that fits Edwards' playstyle. Ant is currently on his "Believe That" tour in China. The "Lucid Pink" colorway has also been rumored.

Edwards first debuted his signature shoe with Adidas back in late 2023, so another model to the AE line was anticipated. Adidas released an advertisement with the caption "You Ready?" hinting that the AE2 shoes were set to be released. While it's not a shocking announcement, it's certainly an exciting one, especially after seeing how clean the shoes are.

The AE1 shoes were an exciting blend of simple yet clean designs and others with bright colors and plenty of pop.
Edwards is the future of Adidas basketball
Edwards has been signed to the brand with three stripes since entering the league in 2020. Notably, he is one of four players with an Adidas signature shoe, with the other three being James Harden (nine models), Damian Lillard (nine models), and Donovan Mitchell (seven models). Trae Young and Derrick Rose previously had shoes with Adidas.
With Dame and Harden aging, it's clear that Edwards will be the face of Adidas basketball moving forward. His second signature shoe is only the beginning. Having one of the league's best young stars is a big advantage for Adidas.
Despite averaging 27.6 points and making All-NBA second team last season, Edwards hasn't entered his true prime yet. Going into his age-24 season, Edwards could reach another level, which could be paired with even more team success for a franchise coming off back-to-back Western Conference Finals appearances. As Edwards continues his rise as one of the league's most elite and recognizable stars, he'll be further putting Adidas basketball on the map.
Edwards will be crucial in Adidas' long-standing desire to challenge Nike. With LeBron James and Kevin Durant aging, Nike doesn't have a clear young successor. They were hoping Ja Morant would be that, but he's proven to be too volatile. Sure, they have Victor Wembanyama, who will get a signature shoe soon, but big men typically don't sell shoes as well. Giannis Antetokounmpo and Devin Booker are the other two Nike athletes with signature shoes.
Overall, another model in the AE line will give Adidas basketball some extra excitement.
