Happy birthday to Ant-Man! Today (August 5), Anthony Edwards is turning 25. Even at that young age, he has accomplished a lot in the NBA with the Minnesota Timberwolves during his first six seasons in the NBA.
Since being selected first overall in 2020, Edwards has developed into one of the game’s top scorers and 3-point marksmen. Very few have been as prolific as Ant at his age, and he may not even be at his peak yet.
Scoring average has increased every season
Through his first six NBA seasons—all before the age of 25—Edwards has already accumulated 10,854 career points. Not only that, but his scoring average has increased every year he’s been in the league. The 2020-21 Rookie of the Year runner-up averaged 19.3 points as a rookie, more than 25 points per contest in each of the last three years, and a career-best 28.8 in 2025-26.
That point total is the third-most in NBA history before their 25th birthday. The only two ahead of him are the all-time leading scorer (LeBron James - 13,297) and a guy who ranks fifth as of now on that list (Kevin Durant - 12,258). Edwards’ total is 29 more points than Luka Doncic, 86 more than Carmelo Anthony, and 196 more than Kobe Bryant, who rank fourth, fifth, and sixth, respectively, for most points before turning 25.
More 3s than anyone at his age
While Edwards places third for most points before 25, he tops the list for made 3-pointers before that same age. Thus far in his career, Ant has connected on 1,314 shots behind the arc. His 320 makes from deep in 2024-25 are the seventh-most in a single season (only behind six different seasons from Steph Curry).
Edwards' total is a good amount more than anyone else before turning 25. Behind him is Luka Doncic with 1,114. The only other player to make more than 1,000 threes before the age of 25 is Jayson Tatum with 1,021.
Could just be entering his primeÂ
As exciting as it has been for Wolves fans to watch Edwards, there’s still room for improvement. He’s also at the age where he may now just be reaching his prime.
If so, well, that’s a scary thought for the other 29 teams in the league. Keep in mind that LaMelo Ball is just 17 days younger than Edwards, and Jaden McDaniels is about 10 months older than Ant. The three may all be on similar ascending timelines.
