When the Minnesota Timberwolves win games, the spotlight often goes to Anthony Edwards, and if not him, it's usually Julius Randle, Jaden McDaniels, or Rudy Gobert who's having a big game. What people haven't been (but should be) talking about is how crucial Donte DiVincenzo has been to the Wolves being one of the NBA's best teams.

His box scores won't pop off the page unless he hits a barrage of 3-pointers. Still, his constant intensity on both sides of the ball, his ability to hit timely shots, and his adaptability to be able to be effective with just about anyone on the roster are just a few reasons why Donte has been so important.

His contract-to-production ratio is unbelievable

This year, he's averaging 12.9 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 4.3 assists, shooting 42.1 percent from the field and 39.1 percent from three. Solid numbers. Now consider that his contract isn't even the full mid-level exception. Donte is doing this while making less than $12 million this year and $12.5 million next year.

It's not crazy to say that his importance to the team this year is probably worth double what he's earning right now. Every championship team needs quality contributors on bargain contracts. Look at Oklahoma City last year; they have Aaron Wiggins and Isaiah Joe, two key bench pieces on the books for only around $10 million per year long term.

He's the ultimate dirty-work guy

When you think of gritty, hustle players across the association, you think of guys like Alex Caruso, Josh Hart, and TJ McConnell. Donte DiVincenzo should be in those conversations. He is always the first on the team to dive on the floor for 50-50 balls, save a ball from going out of bounds, or pick up his assignment 94 feet.

He knows his role as well, and he's the epitome of consistency in that role. He has the ultimate green light from anywhere within three steps of the three-point line, and he never complains about how many shots he gets. Championship teams don't win championships without guys who have Dontes mentality.

The next time you turn on a Wolves game and Donte has 11 points, five rebounds, and three assists with a steal and a block, but he's a plus-16 in the game that they're winning by four. Don't question it, because that's just who Donte DiVincenzo is, and that's who he's been his entire Wolves tenure. He's a pure winner who has a huge impact on every game in the W column for Minnesota.
