Anthony Edwards has really picked up his scoring as of late. After several weeks of struggling to get to the cup and move freely on offense, Ant has returned to being the lethal scorer that we know he is, helping lead the Minnesota Timberwolves to wins in the process.

He capped off an incredible three-game scoring run in the win over the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday. Over the previous three contests, he logged 122 total points - the most for any player in the history of the franchise during any three-game stretch.

On Thursday night, he added another 21 points as the Wolves took down a solid Magic squad on the road. Edwards also notched four made threes in Orlando, putting him just 29 threes shy of passing none other than Karl-Anthony Towns for the most made threes in Minnesota franchise history.

As of this writing, KAT still holds the top spot with 975 made threes in a Timberwolves uniform. With 947 of his own, Anthony Edwards will have the chance to eclipse that mark in the coming days - and he could do it while playing against the current record-holder.

Ant can pass KAT for made threes against the Knicks

The Timberwolves will be traveling to Manhattan to take on the New York Knicks on Friday, January 17. For Ant to reach 29 made threes by that game and break KAT's record right in front of his former teammate, he would have to make over seven threes per night until then.

That is a big ask, even for as big a sharpshooter as Edwards. If Ant makes seven threes against each of the Grizzlies, Wizards and Warriors in the three games before the Knicks matchup, he would then need eight threes in New York for the record.

All things considered, this is probably not going to happen. For the pure fact that Edwards is going to be doing what he can to produce winning basketball for Minnesota, and not simply chasing stats or records. But how entertaining would this be if he were to somehow pull it off?

Not only to do it against KAT himself, but also at Madison Square Garden in the world's most famous arena, would certainly be a special moment. It's not likely to happen, but we can still hope.
