The Minnesota Timberwolves earned one of their biggest wins of the season against the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday. The Wolves used a big second half to overcome a deficit that grew to as large as 12 points to achieve their fourth consecutive victory, putting them a full five games above .500, a season-high mark.

Perhaps the most notable development of the game came during the third quarter when Chris Finch earned himself an ejection. This came after he drew a technical foul in the first quarter as well. Finch reportedly called the refs "bozos" while speaking with Bradley Beal on the sideline, which led to him being ejected from the game.

In the moment, many wondered if getting tossed was a calculated move from Finchy to fire up his squad. If it was, it certainly worked. Timberwolves players were asked about his display of emotion after the game, and they indicated that it did not come as a surprise to them.

When asked if the ejection was the maddest he had seen Finch, Julius Randle replied, "you should've seen him this morning." This of course led reporters to wonder what happened in the morning time.

Finch's ejection is no surprise after hearing these stories

Nickeil Alexander-Walker explained it best. "It was just a carry-over," he said. "He woke up choosing violence, I'll say ... But (the ejection) was needed, it was timely, and as you could see, it was the right thing." Sometimes guys need the right kind of motivation to snap back into it, and Finch knows his team well enough to time a move like this up perfectly.

This was an interesting development given Finch's usually even-keeled nature. Chris Hine of the Minnesota Star Tribune had this to say: “Finch is typically candid in these sessions, and he isn’t afraid to get on players, regardless of their status on the team. Edwards has never been spared from Finch’s film clips and sharp tongue that offers blunt critiques. Wednesday’s was at another level, the players said. Nobody escaped Finch’s wrath.“

Honestly, this was just a great, genuine display of self-awareness from the Timberwolves' coach. You have to pick your spots carefully when you choose to make a public display of emotion, and I would say Finch delivered in a big way.
