Every fan of the Minnesota Timberwolves recalls Anthony Edwards' persona when he first entered the NBA. It was similar to the way he carries himself now, with the difference being that he has grown and matured a good bit over the course of the last four years. However, the natural confidence and charisma that he exhibited from day one still remains.

Edwards routinely believes he is the best in the room at whatever competitive activity is being discussed. Some may say this makes him delusional, but others would say you have to be a bit delusional to accomplish incredible things. Partly through a sometimes logic-defying belief in himself, Ant has become the superstar we know him to be today.

We see this mindset spill over into several areas of his life, some of which can be humorous. Recently, while competing with Team USA in preparation for the 2024 Olympics, Edwards was asked which event he would participate in if he were a swimmer. After responding that he would swim freestyle, Ant also declared that he is the best swimmer on the USA Basketball team.

Edwards believes he is the best swimmer on Team USA

Ant defended his statement by saying that there are no real swimmers on Team USA. "They ain't no swimmers," he said. "You got Embiid, you got AD, and Bam, they ain't swimming fast. Bron, he ain't swimming fast. KD, Kawhi, Tatum, they not swimming fast at all. So my only challenges are Book, when he might not know how to swim. Jrue, he might drown. And Haliburton ... If Haliburton beat me then I just need to never touch the water again."

The best part about this whole quote is that Edwards is probably not wrong at all. When it comes to swimming, Ant may have the best blend of size and strength to be a quick swimmer, and he could easily be the best of the bunch. But the way that he goes about defending his position is classic, and a perfect reflection of his character.

Timberwolves fans can smile as their franchise star grows and matures even more with potentially the greatest basketball team on planet Earth. And even as he does, it is clear his vibrant personality will continue to shine through it all.
