There is plenty to love about the Minnesota Timberwolves experience. From the tight-knit community to the passion of the fanbase to the talent of the players on the court, the Timberwolves have one of the best all-around communities in the NBA.

One of the biggest upsides for many fans in Minnesota is the home team's broadcast. Their crew boasts a superstar team of Michael Grady and Jim Peterson, with Katie Storm reporting from the sidelines. The trio creates one of the highest-quality and most enjoyable watching experiences in the NBA. If you live in the Twin Cities and can't make it to a home game in person, listening on Bally Sports North is one of the best consolation prizes imaginable.

Recently, a big announcement was made regarding Michael Grady. The Timberwolves' play-by-play announcer is set to join ESPN's roster of announcers for the coming season. This is far from surprising, as Grady is one of the best in the business. Being invited to announce with ESPN is a big honor, and one that he one hundred percent earned through his hard work.

Grady will call select games for ESPN this season

Now, many Wolves fans will hear this and have a moment of panic. Does this mean Grady will be departing from Minnesota's star-studded broadcast team on Bally Sports? The short answer is not completely.

The long answer is that Grady will be on-call for ESPN while still continuing his duties as the Timberwolves' play-by-play announcer. So in large part, the fanbase can breathe a sigh of relief that they do not have to say goodbye to the voice of the team.

But as Jon Krawczynski points out, this is more evidence that the national media is recognizing Grady's talents, and he will continue to get more opportunities like this. It is not unreasonable to think Michael could be hired full-time elsewhere in the near future, so fans should certainly appreciate him while he is here.

In the meantime, the remainder of ESPN's play-by-play team will feature Mike Breen, Ryan Ruocco, Dave Pasch and Mark Jones. Grady will be joining a team filled with big-name talent, but he is more than up to the challenge.
