Timberwolves ownership needs to step up after Friday's embarrassment

Since Alex Rodriguez and Marc Lore have taken over ownership of the Timberwolves, they have made it clear that they are looking out for the fans. Whether it’s improving the in-game experience at the Target Center or an offseason survey for Wolves fans to fill out, they are taking steps to ensure that occurs.

On Friday, the Timberwolves suffered an embarrassing loss to the Suns in a game they looked to have in the bag with under a minute left. Turnovers, missed free throws, and Phoenix scoring the last nine points allowed them to win by a single point. Just as embarrassing was the postgame press conference with Chris Finch. It’s something that the Timberwolves' owners need to ensure doesn't happen if they truly do care about the fans.

Press conference with Chris Finch consisted of just two questions

You would think that after the Timberwolves blew an eight-point lead with less than a minute to go, questions would be coming rapid fire at Finch as to what happened. Instead, Finch received a whopping two questions before the postgame press conference concluded. You can watch the entire press conference in this 37-second clip.

How is that possible after the collapse that occurred on Friday? Well, some of the Timberwolves’ best reporters chimed in as to why that occurred. Dane Moore is independent, which makes funding 41 different road trips challenging, whereas other reporters had their travel budgets cut.

What happened after Friday’s game is unacceptable. Some Wolves fans stay up later than normal on game nights and wait a little longer to get shuteye to hear the postgame comments. Imagine their amazement when Finch's postgame conference didn't even come close to lasting a full minute. Many wanted to know why Jaylen Clark wasn't out there for defensive purposes at the end of the game, but that question remains unanswered.

Ownership should step in to ensure this doesn't happen

I’m not going to pretend to know the best way for ownership to fix this, but I would think they could do something. I know if Rodriguez and Lore are about appeasing the fanbase, this just cannot happen. I'm sure they have the money to fund travel expenses for reporters or, at the very least, chip in.

Rodriguez and Lore have to be aware of the pitiful press conference from Friday. It will be interesting to see if some of the beat reporters provide updates in the near future and are more able to attend road games.

The Timberwolves' next game is on the road against the Kings on Monday. The game begins at 9 PM CT, so many fans will again have to stay up late to watch their favorite team.
