It has been about 2.5 weeks since the Minnesota Timberwolves surprisingly waived Johnny Juzang from his two-way contract. Shortly after, they signed Jules Bernard with their open two-way slot, but he was waived just three days later.

On March 1, Minnesota added shooting guard Zyon Pullin to a two-way deal. While he hasn’t dressed for the Timberwolves yet, he has played with the G League’s Iowa Wolves all season, and the 25-year-old is in the middle of an excellent stretch for them.

Zyon Pullin is excelling with the Iowa Wolves

While the Wolves saw their three-game winning streak come to an end on Sunday, Pullin went off. He dropped 36 points on 12-for-23 shooting from the field, 5-for-10 from beyond the arc, and 4-for-4 from the foul line. He also added five rebounds, five assists, and two steals.

In his previous 2 games, Zyon totaled 56 points with matching 10-for-13 nights from the field. He also grabbed 15 boards and dished out 16 assists in the two contests.

All season, Pullin has been making an impact with Iowa. Back in November, he was named the G League’s Player of the Month. The Timberwolves have obviously been impressed with his play and eventually decided to add him with their open two-way slot.

Looking for return to NBA

Back in 2024, Pullin went undrafted out of Florida. Since then, it has been a journey for him to realize his dream of playing in the NBA.

Shortly after the draft, the Miami Heat signed the California native to a two-way contract but released him a few weeks later. Miami instead later signed him to a training camp deal, but Zyon was waived prior to the season beginning.

Pullin began the 2024-25 season in the G League before the Memphis Grizzlies added him on a two-way deal last January. On February 3, 2025, Pullin made his NBA debut against the San Antonio Spurs. He would get into two more games, with each one seeing him total less than a full minute of playing time.

While his time in the NBA has been minimal, Pullin would love the opportunity to suit up again. Other than Juzang, the Timberwolves have barely utilized their two-way guys.

I certainly don’t expect that to change, but perhaps if Minnesota knows what seed they will be with a game or two remaining, Zyon may be called up and receive some time back in the NBA.
